WAVS have been asked to help find volunteers who may be able to help residents to recover from the flooding in Woking. Volunteers are needed who are able to help residents clear their properties and co-ordinate with the skip deliveries. It has also been found many who were internally flooded are not insured especially on Walton Terrace. Surrey County Council are hoping to help by organising some skips in the area to be used by the resident to clear the affected items (sofas, carpets, mattresses, cookers, fridges etc..) and allow the cleaning and drying process to begin ( this can take up to 6 months). So that these skips are not just used for fly tipping and by unaffected residents.

Following the clearing residents will need dehumidifiers to help the drying process. We are asking if anyone can provide dehumidifiers if they would be willing to provide these or if you know anyone that you feel could help, please pass this e-mail on to them.Unfortunately, as some residents are living in uninsured properties once all the above has been completed they will need replacement household goods.

Our final call is to ask if you know or can help with any household goods. By doing this it will allow the residents to get back on their feet again.

As you can see it is a long process and we would like to start as soon as possible with the first part where hopefully you may be able to assist with volunteers to help us clear the un-insured affected properties.

Thank you for reading this e-mail any help with be greatly appreciated. If you are in the position to help with the above, please could you call me on 01483 751456 or e-mail elspeth@wavs.org.uk
