SUPPORTING TALK- HELPING STROKE RECOVERERS WITH COMMUNICATION DIFFICULTIES

Volunteers for a Street Collection Urgently Needed

TALK – Information

· TALK is a small local charity established in 1998 to support people who have developed aphasia as a result of having a stroke

· We run 5 groups in Surrey, one of which is located in Walton on Thames, in the Community centre and another in Woking.

· The groups are all run by trained volunteers

· Each recoverer works on a one to one basis with a volunteer and attends a weekly session lasting for two hours

· Each session has a different theme such as art therapy, a quiz, current affairs sport etc

· The focus is on total communication support, socialisation and confidence building

· The carers of the stroke recoverers also benefit by getting a break for the two hours

Fundraising Need

As part of our fundraising efforts as small charity, we organise a maximum of three charity street collections each year. This year in 2016 we have been lucky enough to have been allocated the following dates/locations in the area:

Brooklands Shopping Centre on the 9th July. 9am to 2pm

Unfortunately we are struggling for volunteers but do not want to cancel if we can avoid it.

Could anyone spare an hour on these dates to hold a collecting tin and support the excellent work that goes on in this area?

Free Parking

Opportunity to shop afterwards!

Please call 01483 751456 if you would like to volunteer.
